TEXT
Pollution is neither a local nor a national issue. Air and water pollution cross the borders of countries so often and in such large quantities that it has become an international problem. This is the case of acid rain, which travels for hundreds or thousands of kilometres in the air to kill forests , aquatic life and destroy buildings in countries far from the country which has produced it.
To understand what acid rain is and how it travels long distances , imagine a factory in Britain.The factory needs energy for its manufacturing, so it burns oil and coal. These fuels have a high Sulphur (S)******* which turns into Sulphur Dioxide(SO) after the burning of oil or coal. The Sulphur Dioxide goes up from the factory chimney into the air.

Dear Sonia
I am glad to write my first letter. My name is Lamia . I am from London but I reside with my grandmother in Chi Chester. I am a pretty teenager of medium height with afair complexion . I study at King Charles’ school . Every morning , I go to school on foot because itis not far from home . After school I usually go to the super café to check my e-mail . By the way , I have just received a letter from an English young girl of 16. She is looking for pen friends . Her name is Linda . She is tall but rather slim . Linda says that she has a lot of hobbies , including painting and reading books . She is interested in other people’s culture and customs .
Linda and her friends generally spend their leisure time in the youth club in Manchester . They often rehearse plays they have written . Linda’s family is quite large .
She has three sisters and two brothers . Her father is a manager in a small chocolate factory and her mother is a secretary in the same factory . The olivers are a well known family .They regularly give parties and invite many people . So Linda and her sisters have much to do on such occasions . Email Linda if you want to be her pen friend .
