time clauses 2024.

Hi,again

Today,we’re going to have a lesson about the time clauses

Consider the following sentence

When I go home,I will phone you

In this sentence,we have two clauses

The first clause
When I go home

The second clause

I will phone you

We call the first clause : subordinate clause because it is not complete in meaning and it contains

the conjunction " when "but we call the second clause the main clause because its meaning is complete

So, the subordinate clause always contains the conjunction

There are many conjunctions that express time like : as soon as -while-before-after-until

Exercise1 : Colour the main clause in red and the subordinate clause in blue in the following sentences

As soon as I finish my work,I’ll go home

She won’t leave until you come

My father will buy a new car before he sells the old one

After we finish the lesson,we’ll do an exercise

I will read a newspaper while I am in the bus

When he comes back,I’ll tell him

Dire l’heure en anglais : Cours

Demander l’heure: ‘ What time is it ? ‘

What time is it ?

9:00It’s nine o’clock Il est pile 9 heures, on ajoute juste « o’clock»

9:25It’s twenty-five past nine Les minutes sont dites en 1er . PAST indiquequ’il est 9 heures passées .

9:55It’s five to ten
Les minutes sont dites en 1er . TO indique
qu’il est 10 heures moins 5

En clair, cela se résume avec ce schéma :

Petite précision :
– Pour la demi-heure, on dit « HALF » et non « THIRTY ».
Exemple : 6:30 It’s half past six et non It’s thirty past six

-Pour le quart d’heure, on dit « A QUARTER » et non « fifteen »
Exemple : 6:15 It’s a quarter past six et non It’s fifteen past six
6:45 It’s a quarter to seven et non It’s fifteen to seven

السلام عليكم هل أواصل أم أتوقف مع انه عندي الرغبة في التوقف لأني سإمت كل تعبي و سهري ضاع هبا منثورا نقاطي في لاختبارات كارثية فماذا عساي افعل

إن لم تخطئ فأنت لم تجرب شيئاً جديداً

قولي لا اله الا الله و استعيذي من الشيطان الرجيم
ليس من المعقول التخلي عن حلمك في اول كبوة انت لم تخسري شئ بعد فالاختبارات الفصلية مجرد تدريب للباكالوريا و اعلمي انك ان استسلمت الان فهذا هو الفشل الحقيقي و تيقني ان تعبك لم يذهب سدى ابدا
انصحك ان تاخذي قسطا من الراحة لتتجدد طاقتك و تنسي همومك ادعي الله ان يوفقك
حددي نقاط ضعفك و تعلمي من اخطائك السابقة و اتبعي طريقة منظمة في المراجعة
لا تضغطي على نفسك كثيرا و ادرسي فقط عندما تكونين مركزة و منتبهة

ليس الخطأ أن تكون النتائج كارثية فجميع نتائجنا كذلك

If the intonation of the tag question is down,the aim of the question is to ask for confirmation but if the intonation is up,the aim of the tag question is to get information

When does intonation in question tags go up and when does it go down ?

Answer

When the speaker knows the answer and he just wants confirmation,the intonation goes down

Example

The teacher: The classroom is very hot,isn’t it ?

The intonation in the question tag here goes down because the teacher knows that the classroom is hot

and he wants confirmation from his pupils.That’s why he asks the question tag with a falling intonation

Now,consider this short dialogue

Teacher: You have two brothers,don’t you ?

A new pupil: No,Sir.I have just one

Here,the teacher asks the question tag with a rising intonation because he doesn’t know how many

brothers the new pupil has.So,he asks the question tag seeking information not confirmation
